On Monday, Jan. 15, more than 1,000 of the Pacific Northwest’s most connected citizens gathered at the Red Lion Hotel overlooking the Columbia River for The Skanner Foundation's 32nd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast.

The event featured keynote speaker Cheryl Grace, senior VP of U.S. strategic community alliances and consumer engagement at Nielsen. Grace engaged the audience with wit and panache, delivering a pop quiz on Black culture, sharing poignant personal stories and imploring guests to speak up and use their power.

Thanks to the support of 17 regional sponsors, 22 students received scholarships in keeping with The Skanner’s long-standing mission of “challenging people to shape a better future now.”

We offer thanks and gratitude to our sponsors and to all who attended, and look forward to seeing you next year!
