VIDEO: Short Film Released on Portland Metro’s COVID-19 Response

The Coalition of Community Health Clinics has released a short documentary film, which can be viewed below, celebrating the local health clinic response to COVID-19. It shares the voices of people on the front lines of the pandemic and pays tribute to the local community health response.

The film was made by acclaimed local filmmaking nonprofit, Outside the Frame, which empowers homeless and marginalized youth to educate the public by producing films with youth that convey their experience.

The goal of the film is to highlight the unsung heroes at community clinics who have been keeping people safe from the COVID-19 epidemic. Many have worked long hours in dangerous conditions for over a year, risking their own health and lives to care for our region's most vulnerable patients.

The film features community leaders as well as frontline staff at health clinics who support the health and well-being of people experiencing poverty, homelessness, and other barriers to good health. The stories include a nurse who treats a single mom with COVID-19, the rapid opening of a child care center so health clinic staff could continue treating patients and helping people experiencing homelessness with basic needs as services closed down.
